missing the maxx

I went back and listened to Maxx Axe by Roger Troutman from my Locked in the Vinyl Cellar comp, and really wished I got into it earlier. You can listen to it here.

Two things catch my ear- 1) it has that great p-funk structure (what? did they say mothership?) where the band starts out with a complex verse/chorus arrangment and then completely devolves into a massive head noddin' jam session on the same progression + overindulgant synthy noodling. 2) Again, the last 3/4s of the track sounds like a Leroy Burgess track, musically.
